This week we are celebrating Alan (AJ) Lund for his many accomplishments inside on the basketball court and outside on the golf course. AJ has played both basketball and golf all four years of his high school career and outside of school, he also races go karts competitively.. In his first three golf seasons, AJ has posted the lowest average each season. In addition, AJ has earned All-Conference honors all three years and the team has advanced to the Lafayette Regional the last two seasons. Coach Geoff Mahan believes he has a lot more success waiting for him this year. “He had a great summer and fall of training on the course, so hopefully he will carry that momentum through the winter and into the 2026 season,” said Mahan. “As he looks to help the team make history, AJ will attempt to cement his legacy as one of Speedway's best golfers in history. We are really looking forward for AJ to consistently shoot in the low 70s this season.” Golf is a sport that AJ enjoys for many reasons. “It keeps me in shape and the mental side keeps me strong in the classroom,” noted AJ. “And golf is a sport you can play forever.” Varsity basketball coach Bob Wonnell also believes that AJ has a drive for success and is a huge help for the team. “He is an extremely intelligent player on both ends of the court and leads our team in charges drawn which in my opinion, his willingness to take charges and put his body on the line is a direct measure of how badly AJ wants to win,” observed Wonnell. “It has been an absolute pleasure coaching and getting to know AJ,” added Wonnell. AJ is the son of Jeffrey Lund and Amy Lund and is the brother to Caroline who is currently in 6th grade . AJ would like to recognize his father and mother “ … because of what they have done for me and everything they have taught me and showed me.” AJ plans on attending either IU or Purdue to study finance and play golf! Congratulations AJ and we wish you the best of luck to you in your future! Senior profiles are composed by the SHS Student Media Team of Morgan Smith, Jonathan Berry, Hayli Clampitt, and Colten Thompson.
