This week, we are celebrating senior athlete Rebeca Mejia. Rebeca works as hard in the classroom, and on the field. Rebecca is a great teammate and an awesome leader. ¨Rebeca improved greatly throughout her time as a player at Speedway,” said outgoing varsity soccer coach Stacie Burke. “It was a joy to see her grow as a player. She was a great leader on the team!¨ Rebeca enjoys playing soccer. ¨I just want to enjoy being in high school and the experience that it is,” said Rebeca. “It's fun when you play with friends.¨ Rebeca's biggest influence is her mom. ¨She has worked so hard throughout her life, has worked so much for me and my sister to have everything,” reflected Rebeca. “And she has taught me to never give up even though it might feel hard. I want her to be proud of me and I want to give her everything she deserves.¨ Rebeca plans on going to either Ball State or IU-Bloomington to study interior design with a minor in interior architecture! We all are so proud of Rebecca and excited to see what the future holds for her! Senior profiles are composed by the SHS Student Media Team of Morgan Smith, Jonathan Berry, Hayli Clampitt, and Colten Thompson.
