Meeting new people. Forming new connections. Teamwork. Those are the three reasons why senior Stephanie Alvarado likes playing soccer at Speedway. This week we celebrate Stephanie’s participation as a student-athlete at Speedway. “Stephanie has worked hard over her four years on the soccer team to become one of our key players,” said varsity soccer coach Stacie Burke. “She is encouraging to other players. Stephanie has a great passion for the game!” Stephanie earned the team’s Most Improved Player award and she’s also interested in playing club soccer this year for the Hendricks Elite FC. “The program (Hendricks) seems really fun and the people are very welcoming too,” said Stephanie. Stephanie’s cousin Maria has played an important role in her life. “She always gives me advice for whatever next big step I plan on taking,” said Stephanie. After Speedway, that next big step is her plan to attend IU to study medicine. Stephanie is the daughter of Norma and Oscar Alvarado. She has a sister at Wheeler (Leslie).
