Operation Football continues

Speedway's varsity football team hosts its third straight game at the new Ralph Johnson Field facility when they host Class 3A #10 Tri-West. This will be Speedway's first football contest in the new Hoosier Legends Conference. The Sparkplugs have faced a ranked opponent three out of four weeks to start the season. On Saturday, the Sparkplug and Bruin JV squads will duke it out at Tri-West, beginning at 10 am. OTHER HIGHLIGHTS: The boys soccer team is ranked #12 this week in Class 2A. The Sparkplugs are 5-2-2 and 2-0-1 in Hoosier Legends Conference play. The boys fell 2-1 last night on a late second half goal to a solid Ben Davis squad The boys have a huge game next week against #1 ranked 1A Covenant Christian. The cross country squads will participate in the Ben Davis Invitational on Saturday. Senior Morgan Smith has been on a tear this season having broken her school record multiple times already. Morgan was named All-County after finishing eighth at the Marion County Meet earlier this season. The boys tennis team hopes to reenergize their sparks Saturday when they travel to Pike to play the Red Devils and Decatur Central. The varsity girls soccer team travels to Pike as well for a 10 am match with the Red Devils. All other Sparkplugs squads are off on Saturday.
